The city of Kolkata gears up for the occasion long before the actual starting date of the fiesta. However, the fashion and trends of the dresses change every year.

This year also, new styles and trends are seen especially on readymade garments for young boys and girls. Shop keepers do not even have time to take rest. Shops and multiplexes are full of crowds. Definitely the choice of each and every individual differs but the shop keepers keep an eye on the latest style and trend each year to match the tastes of the throng.

Dressing trends for girls:

Choosy young girls want to grab the attention of their friends and family with the latest fashion in Durga Puja. Young girls are quite comfortable in different kinds of dresses and they are not afraid of experimenting with their dresses as well. Garment makers are quite apt to capitalize on that. Narrow cut jeans are on demand. Designer jeans with innovative cuts are also catching the eyes of the young girls.

Combination of Jeggings and floral printed top are selling in the market. Rugged denim and v- neck t-shirts are quite popular this year.

Even though the Butterfly cut tops, Balloon tops and spaghetti strap gowns are bit expensive but girls like these a lot.

Latest salwar suits which were worn by the popular heroines of the latest hit films always have their markets during Durga Puja.

The short dress which was worn by Bengali actress Koyel Mallick in her film “Paglu” is the latest fashion of Durga Puja this year. Spaghetti top and single colored sleeveless tops are included in the list of girls’ Puja collection.

Dressing trends for women:

Even though most of the girls prefer to wear sari at least once in Durga Puja but mostly married women wear saris with different designs. Traditional handloom cotton and slik sarees are always on demand during Puja. Shop keepers are selling South Indian silk and Jaipur Bandhej sarees this year more than any other sarees.

Different kinds of experimentations have been done successfully on the Kosa Tasar Silk this year. Demands of printed Kosa silk, Ghicha silk and Jute silk sarees are increasing day by day.

Choices of colors differ according to the tastes of the buyers. Some prefer to wear light colored sarees where as some like deep colored sarees. However, rust, magenta, brown and chocolate colors are the trends of this year.

Dressing trends for men:

To pay tributes to the deity Durga on Ashtami, traditional Kurta pyajama is a must. Young and even middle aged men are buying western outfits like jeans and t shirts. Some prefer skin tight jeans as well. Young men are inclined towards the colorful t shirts. Most of the guys still believe that faded jeans offer a different pomp to their stylish looks. Colorful sherwanis are on demand as well.

Dressing trends for boys:

Young boys are buying narrow cut jeans and short shirts a lot. Young guys prefer cotton shirts more than anything else. Printed shirts are not in demand but expensive designer prints of big brands are enticing customers towards the big shopping malls. Skin tight t- shirts, cargo trousers and cargo shirts are latest trends for the boys this year.
